On September 10th 2012, the local AMVETS (American Veterans) Post 44 will be holding a 9-11 ‘Remembrance Ride and Patriot Day Celebration’. This year there are going to be five ride starting points. The starting points are as follows:
- James A. Haley VA Hospital 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa
- Pit Stop Bar 4210 New Tampa Highway, Lakeland
- Quaker State & Lube 10400 49th St. N, Clearwater
- Target Parking lot 15240 N Dale Mabry HWY, Tampa
In addition to the ride, the local AMVETS Post 44 will be holding a community event filled with food & beverages, kids activities, vendors, raffles, auctions, and a car and bike show by Rolling Thunder. The community event is $15 per person. There will also be live entertainment featuring artists such as the Greg BillingsBand, Pitbull Toddler, and Diamond Gray.
The ride and community event has received sponsorship from many prominent businesses such as Bay News 9, Born to Ride, Uncle Mikes Smokehouse Grill, Attorney Fran M. Haasch, and many more.
An organizer of the event has been diligently getting the word out by handing out flyers, talking to local residents in the community, and emphasizing his passion towards the cause. His efforts have paid off so far by receiving donations as large as $5000 from local residents in the community.
The community event is being held at International Showmen’s 6915 Riverview Dr, Riverview, FL 33578. Connect with the AMVETS Post 44 on Facebook.
