This Monday, July 18, the Chamber Music Northwest concert series continues at Kaul Auditorium at Reed College. The concert will feature the Miro Quartet (Sandy Yamamoto, Joshua Gindele, Daniel Ching and John Largess) and also performances by Julie Landsman, Shai Wosner, Fred Sherry, Paul Neubauer and Theodore Arm.
Kaul Auditorium is located at 3203 SE Woodstock Boulevard on the campus of Reed College. Tickets for the event range from $15-35.
The concert programme features the northwest premiere of Gunther Schuller’s “Quintet for Horn and Strings” (2009). Other works include Mahler’s “Quartet a minor”, Liszt’s “Romance Oubliee” and Antonin Dvorak’s “Piano Quintet in A Major”.
Gunther Schuller is well known in classical musical circles as a composer, conductor and historian. He now serves on the faculties of the Manhattan School of Music and Yale University.
Schuller received the Pulitzer Prize in 1994 for his composition for the Louisville Orchestra, called Of Reminiscences and Reflections.
