September is loaded with opportunities to run and support different causes. In fact there are so many of them, that we have to break the planner up into multiple articles. Let’s jump right into it.
September 3: John Clay 5K– This event raises money for education about brain related injuries and to help the Collier Sheriff’s Office Project Livesaver. The race will begin at Lowdermilk Park, located at 1301 Gulf Shore Boulevard North in Naples. (Click here for a map)The race is scheduled for a 7:30 am start. Click here to register online.
September 10: Run with the Pack 5K– This is a new event in Cape Coral. The race is scheduled for a 7:30 am start at Oasis Middle School, located at 3507 Oasis Boulevard in Cape Coral. (Click here for a map). The event, which benefits the Cub Scouts, will also have a 1 mile fun run. Click here to register online.
September 10: Legacy Run 5K- This race benefits the Dr. Piper Center for Social Services. The course is a flat, out and back loop that the Fitness Examiner knows very well. The event will start and finish at Dunbar Middle School, located at 4750 Winkler Ave. Ext. in Ft. Myers. (Click here for a map). It is scheduled for a 7:30 am start and a Community Connections party in honor of 9/11 and all heroes, from hometown to the big screen, will follow the race. Click here to register online.
