Interview: Always productive + Always grinding = Alwayz Prolific
It takes sharp intuition and awareness to be able to describe one’s creative stamina, especially in terms of ‘three chambers’. Not only does Los Angeles producer/hit-maker/beat-breaker/mind-taker Alwayz Prolific describe his own presence as irresistible, his individual musical charisma is dubbed an “imperfect perfect” for very well-calculated reasons.
I’ve been fortunate enough to sit down and pick this musically creative genius to pieces and dive into the creative process step-by-step. As I was allowed into the inner-workings of Prolific’s mindset I was able to discover the ‘chambers’ of his creativity, how he gratefully sees music everywhere, and how he stays motivated and positive. After reading all the reasons why Alwayz Prolific has “a thirst for knowledge”, you’ll never want to stop sharing glasses with the artistic overflow of this quick-rising hip-hop pioneer…
If there is one thing people ought to know about you what would it be?
If I wanted people to know something about me it’d be that I’m one open minded, creative, energy, that you can’t resist … if you wanna know about me you gotta hang around me and you can get my energy. I have a certain music charisma. I’m easy to work with and [I value that] any idea is a great idea. [I think that every idea is an] imperfect perfect.
If someone wanted to dive into your music and discover how you create, how would you describe the process?
There are chambers. The first is hearing something and getting inspired; Second would be a random thought that the universe gives me; Third, when I sleep, there’s stuff going through my head, sometimes it’s music, sometimes colors, or even random sounds. Basically, if you were to cut open my brain there would sections for each creative chamber to disect. [I interpret things] as either the begining or the last thing; the most or the least. [My musical process ] is a mathematical process. In my past life, I had to have done something creative, or philosophical.
So what would you say inspires your creativity?
I definitely have a thirst for knowledge. My influences, [more universally] can even be clouds, wind, sonic, meaning frequency/vibrations, elevation/altitude. Musically, funk and a lot of blues, R&B, and earlier rap. My first rap tape was Ice Cube. But you see, there’s music in everything.
How do you decide which artists to work with? What are deciding factors of an artist?
Some factors include performance ability: mic control, presence and crowd control, style, how sure of themselves they are, and how willing they are to let me help guide them. When I’m making something for you (the artist) I want you to be happy; as long as you’re happy, I’m happy. But its all about control. I tell them this, ‘ when you’re in the moment, you should be all the way in it’, where you can you be in it and correct your emotions at the same time. For example, to be excited but not sound excited…

While all of Prolific’s experience with art, music, and co-musicians have given him a unique philosophy, it’s one he is constantly sharing wherever he goes. Through an undeniably attractive energy, Alwayz Prolific lives up to the name given to him: He stays productive, always on his grind, always pushing both himself, those he works with, and anyone else lucky enough to cross his path to their full potential and the highest level.
