Now back to full time fashion design since his very well received run as a theater costume designer ‘Project Runway’ fan favorite designer Mondo Guerra has something new to offer at his website.

It is a line of limited edition t-shirts all featuring color combinations and patterns that will be familiar to long-time ‘Project Runway’ fans. Some shirts feature the sugar skulls that were an important motif in Mondo Guerra’s final runway show on ‘Project Runway’, others feature the plus sign print he created for one of the show’s challenges. And for those fans still upset by Mondo taking second place to Gretchen Jones, a designer many ‘Project Runway’ fans count among the show’s villains, the t-shirt collection features a ‘Team Mondo’ shirt to wear proudly.
Mondo Guerra’s LoveMondoTrasho website features more than just t-shirts however. The designer offers modestly priced buttons that have many similar designs as the limited edition collection of shirts, signed photographs of the designer, and Mondo signature printed t-shirt style dresses.

Since appearing on ‘Project Runway’ Mondo Guerra, a self-taught designer, has had his fashions appear on runways around the country. Shortly after his upset loss on the show ‘Project Runway’ host/judge/producer Heidi Klum wore one of Mondo’s final runway show looks on the red carpet- a move many Project Runway’ fans took as an endorsement of Mondo Guerra over ‘Project Runway: Season Eight’ winner Gretchen Jones.

On top of his fashion career Mondo Guerra has become an advocate and public face of those living with HIV/AIDs. He quite famously came out about his own positive status while appearing on the show. At the time he had been diagnosed over 10 years before and had not yet even told his family. Mondo Guerra’s plus sign print was inspired by his positive status. A portion of all the sales of these plus sign print t-shirts goes to benefit the charity Colorado’s AIDs Project.
Though ‘Project Runway’ just released the fashion designers for the ninth season of the show Mondo continues to promote season eight. He was on hand to watch ‘Project Runway: Season Eight’ receive a GLAAD Award earlier this spring for its positive portrayal of those in the gay and lesbian community. ‘Project Runway: Season Nine’ will begin airing later this July on the Lifetime Television Network.
