July 29, 2011: It’s love and marriage again in the royal family. The pre-wedding party for Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall, England’s rugby star, was filled with nostalgia for party-goers. The event was held aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Queen’s yacht for 44 years. Prince William was there with Kate whom fashion police cited for wearing her green dress again. When bachelor Prince Harry arrived just before the boat said – the guests cheered. Although the party was primarily for young people, the Herald Sun just reported that the wedding itself will be attended by the Queen and Prince Philip in what is being calleda quiet but lavish affair.
The yacht was decommissioned some ten years ago, however, Zara rented it her pre-wedding party. During its official years the yacht served as the honeymoon retreat for her parents cruise to the West Indies in 1973.
Kate and the fashion police report
The stylish event was cocktail dresses and suits. And Kate was seen in the emerald Diane Von Furstenberg silk shift dress previously worn for an event at the couple’s arrival in Canada. But she is known for her frugal demeanor and is not concerned about wearing the same fashion item on more than one occasion.
Guests started to arrive at the yacht, which is permanently moored in Leith, Edinburgh, at around 6.30pm, wearing dinner suits and cocktail dresses. The wedding will be held at Canongate Kirk on Friday.
