On Tuesday night, the first part of “Pretty Little Liars” season 2 came to a close — and as a result, millions of fans around the country were left screaming at their TVs with agony. We finally discovered some more details about what happened to Alison — but at the same time, there were some new questions raised that will have people racking their brains for answers until the winter half of the season officially kicks off early next year.
Speaking with TV Guide about everything we happened to see in the finale, executive producer Marlene King did her best to explain one element of the season’s end — the actual murder weapon:
“That shovel is the murder weapon; the field hockey stick was a red herring. Alison was buried alive, she died of suffocation, but that’s what was used to bash her skull in. When the [for the season] came out, I was like, the shovel in the dirt is such a giveaway for the finale, but we got away with it.”
There will be one new episode of the show still this year — a prequel episode revolved around the girls back when Alison was still alive. There will also be some new mysteries revealed during this episode — including something that Alison did not tell any of her friends.
