Life has its own way of not stopping, but continuing on into infinity. A lot of people get so busy and consumed with their daily ventures that they don’t stop to talk to God. God wants to hear your thoughts and concerns. He is the Almighty and can relate to any problem or situation you may have. Nothing is too big or wide for God. Here is a short manual on simple ways to develop stronger prayer habits. Soon you’ll be on your way to having a great personal relationship with God.
Always pray, giving thanks to God for all the blessings He has giving to you. This should be your first prayer habit of the day because it indicates to God that you are grateful; you don’t take anything for granted. You can even get specific with this prayer. For example, I sometimes thank God for blessing me with good health and for blessing my family to be alive and well. Even when times get difficult, you can still give thanks to God for the many blessings He has giving you. Thank the Lord Jesus for being Lord over your life. This shows meekness and humbleness.
Always pray for others such as your friends, family, and even your enemies. Praying for other people and their well being is an amazing thing. It shows that you are not selfish and that you care. True be told, everyone needs prayer, and a lot of times a person may not think to say a prayer to God for the things he or she may really need. This should be your second prayer habit of the day.
Always pray for your needs and wants in life. As mentioned earlier, God is The Almighty. Without Him nothing is possible. With Him anything is possible. The Lord can do anything that is in His precious will. So, don’t be afraid to open up and talk to God about the things you really need and want. He is faithful and just to supply all of your needs.
Always remember to talk to God. Even when you get busy, you can say a small prayer. It doesn’t have to be long and drawn out. It can be one sentence. For example, “Lord, I need help successfully finishing this project today.” Pray whenever you think about it. You may have mental or spiritual problems. God has no problem helping you with those as well. For example, “Lord Jesus, please help me not to get so angry this time, but to remain cool, calm, and collect, thank you Lord.”
Now you are on your way to developing a good relationship with God. Don’t forget to study and meditate over your Bible daily. You don’t have to read for a long time. 15 minutes of Bible reading may be adequate on some days. When you read, the spirit of God will teach you and bring back to remembrance when you are faced with challenges. Lastly, attend your local church to learn everything about God you can possibly learn.
