August 26, 2011. Washington. The latest AP-Roper-GfK poll released today shows some seriously troubling data. Overall, Congress has an approval rating of only 12 percent. By comparison, President Obama fairs much better, but still has support from less than a majority. The President garnered a 46 percent approval rating. That compares with a Gallup poll last week that showed President Obama registering only 39 percent.
The poll covers responses from 1,000 people over the period of August 18-22. In addition to President Obama and Congress, the poll also rates the favorability of most of the major Republican candidates for President. As far as the U.S. itself is concerned, a full 75 percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.

In case it isn’t obvious, there’s only one individual on either the Democrats’ or Repbublicans’ side that has a higher approval rating than disapproval rating – Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Unfortunately, most Americans will probably never be allowed to hear that. It’s no secret that America’s mainstream media has declared war on Ron Paul and his campaign for President. Read the Whiteout Press article, ‘Mainstream Media not so Mainstream’ for more information. Not surprisingly, Americans’ opinion of their news media is even worse than Congress or President Obama. In the latest poll available, the news media’s approval rating came in a laughable 10 percent.
For all the above politicians with higher disapproval ratings than approval ratings, take solace in the fact that Americans are finicky with their votes of approval. According to KSL TV/Radio in Salt Lake City, even God’s approval rating only comes in at 52 percent.
