global covid-19 cases: Global Covid-19 caseload tops 173 WASHINGTON: The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 173.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.73 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Tuesday morning, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 173,538,801 and 3,734,654, respectively.
The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 33,377,632 and 597,946, respectively, according to the CSSE.
In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 28,909,975 cases.
The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (16,984,218), France (5,775,535), Turkey (5,293,627), Russia (5,076,543), the UK (4,538,399), Italy (4,233,698), Argentina (3,977,634), Germany (3,710,342), Spain (3,707,489) and Colombia (3,593,016), the CSSE figures showed.
In terms of deaths, Brazil comes second with 474,414 fatalities.
Nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are India (349,186), Mexico (228,838), the UK (128,841), Italy (126,588), Russia (122,073) and France (110,224).
