According to Guild Wars 2 lead game designer Eric Flannum, players will be able to host their own Player vs. Player (PvP) servers. Hosts will be able to set rules and limitations for the servers in the same way that first-person shooter gamers can with matches they host.
It still remains to be seen how data will transfer back and forth between the player-hosted server and the main NCsoft servers, if any data will be transferred at all. It’s possible that these servers will provide merely a training arena for players. The server might even include pre-made characters, or pre-set levels. However, anything at this point is just merely speculation.
Guild Wars 2 has no release date and no announced beta plans, though it will be featured and playable at the Eurogamer Expo 2011 this September in London.
