BOCA RATON, Fla. – South Florida now has a new haute spot for authentic Chinese Cuisine – Philippe by Philippe Chow. Famed celebrity Chef/restaurateur Philippe Chow, best known for his award-winning eponymous restaurant in New York City, announced the launch of his new Boca restaurant in August.
Infusing classic Chinese cuisine with haute flair, Chef Philippe presents an elegant Chinese menu, with signature dishes including Chicken Satay, Peking Duck, Peking Chicken, and Green Prawns. Philippe has garnered much praise including Best in Chinese Food by Zagat 2010 and named Best of the Best (2007) by New York Magazine’s Adam Platt. Philippe stands apart from most other Chinese concepts in America, as it features Beijing-style cuisine, known for its lightness and layered flavors without any added MSG. “We’re taking Beijing-style cooking to a new level,” says Stratis Morfogen, CEO of Philippe Chow Restaurant Group. “Most people associate Chinese Cooking with Cantonese cooking, which varies greatly from the layered flavors of Beijing-style cuisine. At Philippe, it’s all about the artistry of the dish and the immense detail that goes into the preparation.”
The new Boca restaurant features the same signature cuisine and cocktails found in the New York (and other) locations — but will introduce a mid-price menu touting more affordable pricing. Price points on the customer-conscious menu will be around 30% lower than the Miami and New York Philippe locations, and will feature exciting after-work and Happy Hour specials. “At Philippe Boca Raton, we’re excited to offer an attractive new price point due to the favorable deal we received from 200 East [the landlord] to occupy this location,” notes Morfogen. Menu offerings with new price points include Chicken Skewers for $5 each, Peking Chicken for $40 (versus the regular $55 price), and the famous Peking Duck for $60 versus the regular $75 price. Most other entrees are priced from $36 – $52 for two (half orders for one are also available.
The chicly modern design features a signature color palette of black, white and red in the dining room and bar. Plush banquettes and intimate booths lend an air of seductive opulence, as the glow from flickering candles and overhead skylights sets the tone for a luxe dining experience. A private cellar and two private dining rooms are also available for more intimate dining, while a lively bar area provides a more convivial option.
