At the number three spot on our list is a venue that is considered a “hidden gem” amongst couples in the region. The Unitarian Society of Germantown (USG) designed by Edmund B. Gilchrist, a well known Philadelphia architect in 1928. Upon arrival at Lincoln Drive an impressive cobblestone entry and view of the steeple awaits. This area is often used to make a grand entrance to the venue, pose for pictures, or as additional space to host an event. Throughout the venue is limestone, brick, stained glass windows, exquisite masonry and ornamental woodwork reminiscent of Italian Baroque.
USG offers brides five areas to host events, The Sanctuary, Dining Room, Sullivan Chapel, The Grove, and the Assembly Room. All are handicap accessible via chair lift, ramp, or an exterior door. USG also has a commercial kitchen fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and countertops available for reserve.
Located on the main floor, the Sanctuary seats 300 guest comfortably. The Sanctuary includes a raised platform, Baby Grand Piano, a 2078 pipe organ available by arrangement, and a sound system.
The Dining Room
Great for a rehearsal dinner or other small gathering this room seats 40 guests comfortably and has beautiful hardwood floors throughout. It also features a large fireplace and large wooden doors that act as a partition or opened as additional space to the Assembly Room. This space reflects a parlor and is often used to serve buffet style dinner, or to accommodate additional guest.
Located at the mid-level this space can be used by itself or with a partition and can accommodate 50 guests. Although small, the room has great ornamental wood detail, crown molding and wainscoting.
The Grove is an outdoor wooded setting including an area that has not yet been developed. It is the perfect space for an outdoor ceremony and outdoor reception.
Assembly Room (Daskam)
Located at the upper-level the room is often used for receptions up to 100 guests. It features hardwood floors, floor to ceiling windows, and a stage.
