Santa Ana, Calif. – Calls to 911 were released Tuesday, indicating the shock and disbelief passengers on a tour boat expressed after reporting they saw a man throw his 7-year-old son off the vessel.
The sightseeing tour of Newport Harbor took place on Sunday afternoon, as one caller described Sloane Briles, 35, acting “bad” during the entire excursion.
Another caller told emergency services that she believed Briles was drunk and violent after seeing him throw his young son overboard.
According to KATV, authorities report that Briles was arguing with both his girlfriend and his son, threatening to throw the boy overboard if he didn’t stop crying. He allegedly followed through with that threat and then immediately jumped into the water after the boy.
Briles was later arrested for child endangerment and resisting arrest.
