The weather has been rough this year and the results of it take their toll in many ways. Heavy snows of winter mean more melt-off come spring and summer. When that happens, for Parkville, Missouri, it means the Missouri River will crest, English Landing Park will flood, and the surrounding Parkville businesses may be in danger. It came very close this summer.
One particular business, Parkville Coffeehouse, took the near miss and put a positive spin on it with their summer slogan: “When Life Gives You Water … Make Coffee.”
Open seven days a week, Parkville Coffeehouse, located at 103 Main Street in Parkville, Missouri, has a variety of fresh fair trade coffees, handcrafted espresso, teas, and fruit beverages served hot, iced or frozen. Watch their outside chalkboard marque for daily specials. The peanut butter mocha latte is especially good as is the coconut white mocha.
Inside Parkville Coffeehouse, you’ll find the cargo box motif and the cool metal tables a relief from the summer heat. A sign designating their Four Food Groups may help you make a decision on what you may want to order: Coffee, Pastry, Sandwich, Soup/Quiche. The display case is filled with pastries, giant cookies baked fresh every day at the Olde Mill in Parkville, and daily sandwiches that you can have cold or toasted. Ask about their soups of the day.
While in Parkville you may want to visit the other unique shops in the area, part of Historic Downtown Parkville – Far from ordinary. Close to home! Having averted the flood, Downtown Parkville is open for business.
Shop the Parkville Farmer’s Market Saturdays, 7:00 a.m. – Noon and Wednesdays, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. for in-season vegetables, fruits, flowers, jams, honey, baked goods, eggs, meats and more. Then, stop by the Parkville Coffeehouse.
