Ottawa Therapy Dogs Inc. is a registered charity that serves the National Capital Region. The volunteer based organization educates the public on the values and benefits of the animal-human bond through various programs in health care settings, public / community events and presentations as well as library reading programs. All of the therapy dogs are trained and registered with the organization prior to participating in any programs.
In order to become registered with the Ottawa Therapy Dogs program, your dog must be:
- current with all vaccinations,
- between 2 and 11 years of age, and
- pass an evaluation by an OTD Evaluator.
The Ottawa Therapy Dogs Inc. website has a useful section which outlines what you can expect during the evaluation. There is also a “New” 1 hour Information Session scheduled for Monday, September 12 starting at 7 pm. If you are interested in becoming a member click here for information about the application process and additional details.
