President Barack Obama has been planning on giving a speech on September 7, 2011 that will lay out the new jobs proposal to the nation. This date has caused issues though as it conflicts with a California debate of Republican presidential candidates, so the speech has been moved to September 8, 2011. It will now go head-to-head with the season opener of the NFL between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers.
House Speaker John Boehner was who requested the move of the speech back one day and President Obama has now acceded to these wishes. The problem now lies in the hands of NBC who is scheduled to air the NFL’s opening game in one week.
Do they cut to the speech? Or do they let the President’s speech air on MSNBC and air the Saints / Packers game as scheduled?
It is a very interesting dilemma and one that could end up with a lot of disappointed people no matter what happens.
