Day three of New Orleans Saints training camp was another scorcher, but the fans of the Who Dat Nation were out in droves to see their black and gold on the field. The Saints were out in pads and helmets, but not fully dressed in leg pads. Still, it was another good practice with even a few more faces showing up.
One of the top pieces of news before practice started is that the Saints have come to terms with cornerback Fabian Washington, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens. Here are the rest of the notes from today’s practice.

~ Kickoff drills were done as was some returning. Pierre Thomas was back returning a few kicks and in an interesting note, so was rookie running back Mark Ingram.
~ Newly signed third round rookie linebacker Martez Wilson was at practice for the first time and he was actually running with the first-team defense. He looked good too.
~ Saints first overall pick Cameron Jordan was of course still not in camp as he remains the only Saints rookie unsigned.
~ Jabari Greer had a great interception after just placing himself right in front of Marques Colston for the pick. #12 made up for it a bit later by getting ahead of Malcolm Jenkins for a deep play.
~ Doubt it was a sign of things to come, but Ingram’s first ever carry saw him get his helmet knocked off and the ball stripped from him by Jonathan Vilma. Welcome to the NFL rook.
He ran really hard though throughout the day and looked impressive overall.
~ Looks like all the yelling done by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams made a mental note in undrafted free agent safety Isa Abdul-Quddus as he made a nice interception with one-hand off of second-year QB Sean Canfield.
~ In a very strange moment…Coach Sean Payton called the team together which is not very uncommon. But then team managers passed out some kind of froo-froo drinks in martini glasses to all of the veteran players not practicing. It drew some laughs from the fans in attendance. A pic is included in the slideshow.
Payton said they were “shirley temples” and were “part of the new CBA.”
~ It was a good day of practice overall and one of the best things was seeing Mark Ingram and Drew Brees in the backfield together. A pic is included in the slideshow.
~ Defense looks sharp already, but the offense has shaken off a bit of rust and is really beginning to heat up after three days in the books.
