Over the weekend, boxing’s pound for pound top fighter Manny Pacquiao was hospitalized due problems stemming from acid reflux. The champion has been plagued by this issue for several years now and also spent time in the hospital last summer due to acid reflux. According to a Monday August 8th report by Philstar.com, Pacquiao is expected to be released from the hospital today without any concerns. His team will ensure that Manny eats a healthy diet without skipping any meals which is believed to be the cause of his acid reflux issues.

Pacquiao will begin a worldwide tour at the beginning of September to promote his upcoming fight against Juan Manuel Marquez in November. The tour will start in Manila, Philippines and after a few weeks it will end in Mexico City, Mexico. The tour will also make stops New York and Los Angeles.
The November 12th fight between Pacquiao and Marquez will be their 3rd encounter as the first two ended in controversy. Pacquiao and JMM fought to a draw in 2004 despite many critics believing that Manny won. In 2008, the rematch ended in a split decision victory for Manny despite many critics believing that JMM won.

Their 3rd battle is expected to end all doubt as Manny is a heavy favorite going into the fight. Depending on the source, Pacquiao is an 8-to-1 favorite over Juan, although the fighting congressman doesn’t believe he should be that much of a favorite. Despite the hospitalization, most pundits believe that not even a bad case of acid reflux will help Marquez as Pacquiao still remains the unanimous choice in victory.
Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 is scheduled to take place on Saturday November 12th live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fights comes about 8 weeks after Pacquiao’s rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights Victor Ortiz on Saturday, September 17th.
