The veterans who served our country in time of war have been shunned by the White House this year.
Even school children here in the Atlanta School system know what the VFW is all about. They have for many years taught flag etiquette and the proper disposition of old and worn flags with dignity and reverence.
The Georgia Headquarters is located in Macon, Georgia with Pledge M. Cannon serving as State Commander.
There are two posts in Atlanta:
1) 1670 Clairmont Road Atlanta, GA 30033 (770)987-3150
2) 170 Line Rd., SW Atlanta, GA 30331 (404)758-3340
Won’t you take a few seconds today to call and express your displeasure in the White House’s decision; and let them know that you support them especially with your prayers? Our veterans of World War II are fading quickly; and we owe more than we can ever imagine for the sacrifices of these brave men and women who fought to keep America free. Will we sit by and let these sacrifices be in vain?

Obama declines speaking opportunity to the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Convention this week in San Antonio, Texas. This will be the first time in 112 years that either the sitting President spoke or at least sent a high ranking official from Washington.
The convention has about 8.000 registrants to the convention; but millions more are members. Many of these members will not be able to attend because of health reasons. Many gave more than their time; but gave their health as well.
President Obama chose to speak at another event – Obama is scheduled to speak to another veteran’s organization, the American Legion, on Aug. 30 in Minneapolis for its annual national convention. It has an estimated 2.4 million members and is made up of both combat and noncombat veterans.
Neither did he choose to send a high ranking representative of the White House to the VFW Convention in Texas.
Gov. Rick Perry of Texas will be one of the speakers as it is the custom to invite the governor of the state where the convention is held. But he has been asked to speak as governor and not as a presidential candidate since he was invited before announcing his bid for the White House. Mitt Romney will also speak. He, too, was invited because at the time he was the only candidate who had announced his bid for the White House. It is the custom to invite all those running for president regardless of party. Mitt was the only one at the time.
Hurricane Irene has caused many flight delays and it could be a factor in those expecting flights into San Antonio as well. President Clinton and President Bush have been former presidents who spoke at the VFW conventions.
The VFW is well known for their encouragement of veterans’ rights including things like health care, military benefits, and now there are important issues in light of supposed budget cuts to veterans.
Abe Levy of “My San Antonio” gives more details on speakers, business affairs, and concerns of benefit cuts to veterans who served this nation well in time of war without hesitation. Like National Day of Prayer and other things this president has shunned, it is a slap in the face to all Americans who love God and Country.
You may wish to let the President know of your displeasure as well that he not only refused the invitation; but did not send a representative either.
It takes less than a minute – you need only fill out parts with red star and then post your comment.
