Is it too early to start talking about the Collin County Libertarian Party’s participation in the Plano Balloon Festival?
After all, the overblown blown up behemoths don’t take flight until mid September.
Here’s why the hot air event is hot and needs to be aired right now.
“Given our huge success last year with a 10×20 booth, we will again rent a 10×20 for all three days of this year’s event,” says the Collin County LP Chair, who adds that the event was able to “provide the CCLP and Libertarianism the best exposure possible, dollar for dollar.”
“Dollar for dollar” are the key words here.
The registration fee is $550, which means the LPers not only must raise the money as soon as possible (they’ve already reserved the space) but also need volunteers to work the various shifts on all three days meeting and greeting people, administering the World’s Smallest Political Quiz, and handing out Libertarian literature.
Money is also needed to stock up on supplies offered for sale at the outreach booth, like CCLP shirts, liberty stickers, pocket sized Declaration of Independence and US Constitution and the World’s Smallest Political Quiz.
The Plano Balloon Festival is expected to draw around 100,000 people this year, according to the party’s news release, and “it is an excellent opportunity to capitalize on the current political climate and reach out to discontented Collin County voters.”

It’s time to escape the hot air blown by Republicans and Democrats and enjoy the hot air balloons at the Plano Balloon Festival.
