Nintendo 3DS to be reduced in price

July 30, 2011

Starting on August 12, you can purchase the Nintendo 3DS for $170—down from $250 (Los Angeles Best Buy locations here). This is because the Nintendo 3DS hasn’t lived up to expectations and because smartphones and tablets have become better gaming platforms according to Los Angeles industry analyst Paul Mueller.

“The Nintendo 3DS is certainly a lot of fun, but the 3D features have given a lot of people headaches. Actually the regular Nintendo DS has been selling better. Plus, playing games on an iPad, iPhone, or EVO 3D is a lot more exciting to consumers.”

Nintendo has added a lot of features to the 3DS, including the ability to play streaming Netflix movies. There are other upcoming updates as well.
