Plaxico Burress is returning to New York to play football, but it is for the Jets, not the Giants. According to several published reports the New York Jets have signed Burress to a one-year, $3 million dollar deal. Burress, who was recently released from prison after serving two years for a gun charge, will provide the Jets and quarterback Mark Sanchez with much needed size at the wide receiver position.
I absolutely love this move by the Jets as it is a low risk, high reward move. If Burress does not pan out, it is only a one year deal. If Plaxico plays at a very high level, the Jets have added a huge weapon to their offense.
Note: There are several reports that free agent tight end Todd Heap is visiting with the Jets on Sunday. This would be another solid signing by the Jets and would make Gang Green’s offense very difficult to defend.
