The rookie signing that all New Orleans Saints fans have been waiting for has now happened. Early on Saturday, July 30, 2011, it was announced that rookie running back Mark Ingram out of Alabama has agreed to terms on a deal with the Saints.
Both Mark Ingram and his agent Joel Segal have confirmed that a deal is in place.
UPDATE: Details on Ingram’s contract: $7.41 million over four years with a $3.89 million signing bonus.
Ingram is at the Saints training facility in Metairie this morning for the second day of training camp. With only about an hour left of practice as of this writing, there is no telling if he will make it out onto the field today.
This is the fourth draft pick that the Saints have come to terms with or signed along with Nate Bussey, Johnny Patrick, and Greg Romeus. Only first overall pick DE Cameron Jordan and third-round LB Martez Wilson remain.
