There’s a somewhat antiquated saying. “Behind every good man, there is a good woman.”
Modern times have altered this ideal somewhat. However, in the case of the 610 Stompers, alongside, in between, before and behind a marching club of ‘Ordinary Men’ with ‘Extraordinary Moves’ there are some extraordinary women. They are the 610 Splits.
The 610 Stompers have been busting moves and drawing loyal fans from the Dome to the Lake to the West Bank to the Battle Field since they Crunked their way into the hearts of Saints fans everywhere in 2009.
Many of these fans have signed up for the 610 Stompers Newsletter, and on August 31, 2011, this big news filled inboxes across the WhoDat Nation:
We are now accepting applications to become a 610 Split. Please go to our website and click on the link on our home page to print the application and requirements. Good luck ladies!
The first thought on many a New Orleans lady’s mind might be, “I want to be a 610 Split!”
The next thought to follow… “What exactly is a 610 Split?” The 610 Stompers website offers a prime summary:
The 610 Splits are the parade of strong, beautiful women devoted to one cause: protecting the men that entertain them – The 610 Stompers. The Splits are the security component of the club, risking their lives on the route, fighting back the endless lines of hot women and wannabe men…throwing themselves at the stompers.
The fans from time to time will ask, “What sort of compensation do the Splits receive for their service to the Stompers?” No matter which of the ladies you ask, the answer is always the same: “The dancing is payment enough.” – www.610stompers.com
The virtual audition process is set up for ‘strong, beautiful women’ to come forward and submit an application, on one condition. Applicants MUST be recommended by an existing 610 Stomper or 610 Split. See the website for additional requirements.
Think you have what it takes, ladies? Here is a sampling of some of the thought-provoking application questions (in no particular order) designed to determine the best of the best.
- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
- If you could be a superhero, what power would you have?
- If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to see play your role? Why?
- Stomper 1 leaves New Orleans at 2:00pm, dancing at a speed of 5 mph (take out beer breaks for the purposes of this question). Stomper 2 leaves Baton Rouge at 3:30pm, dancing at a speed of 7 mph. What time will they meet and dance together? (Please show all work)
Pens to the ready, ladies, and may all good women Split!
Forms must be submitted by September 9, 2011.
