There’s a new Christian Radio Station; Joy 92.5FM. According to Account Executive Doctor Drake, Joy 92.5FM is the only FM Inspirational-Gospel station in Jacksonville Florida.
On Sunday mornings from 6AM to 10AM, listeners will hear The Classic Teachings show. The Yolanda Adams Morning Show will broadcast Mon. – Fri. from 6AM to 9AM and the Co-Co Brother Show in the evenings.
There has been much controversy over one of the hosts; The Michael Baisden Show airs from 3PM to 7PM. According to some listeners from Face Book, there is nothing Christian about the Michael Baisden Show. Here is some of the conversation:
“They always think they have to have a host when most people just want to hear good music. Then they got Michael Baisden in the afternoon to make matters worst. He’s entertaining but is one of the last people I want to discuss spiritual matters.”
“I sent you and your wife a friend suggestion for Joy92.5. Several ppl have been complaining about the Michael Baisden show. From what the radio station is saying they don’t have the sponsorship to have an all gospel station so they are making a BUSINESS decision and may eventually become like V101.5FM because JAX may not be ready for an FM Gospel station.:-/”
“Sometimes, we Christians can talk a good talk, but when it comes to supporting each other and sowing seed; we talk out the sides of our mouths. Please don’t anyone take offense and fire back. Thanks for the original information.”
This writer has listened to the station during the day. As stated above, the radio station is a business. They operate mainly through advertisements. The owner of the station is out to make money and if animals wanted to play “Old McDonald” all day long and had “sponsorship” then that’s what would be played. The Tom Joiner Morning Show and The Steve Harvey Show are other shows that are informative, entertaining and may not be Christian, yet their bills are paid by their sponsors.
We Christians have had to pay attention to some spiritual songs in the past because the words were not always edifying. We must also curtail any secular verbiage that may try to enter our spirits. “I Want To Sex You Up”, “Me And Mrs. Jones”, “Mary Jane” etc. may have a good beat, but what is the message of the song?
The buttons in the center of the console or the knobs on your radio can be changed. You’re in control of what you listen to. As far as keeping an Urban Inspirational Gospel Station in Jacksonville, we can make it happen through commercial advertising (in the time slots that are Christian) and show the owners that JAX wants a, DJ spinning, radio call in, no repeat music station in the local Florida area.
