Didn’t we just get new 3D technology last year? Apparently it’s going to get better, sharper, and easier to film in if 3D Stereoscoping company 3ality Digital has anything to do with it. 3ality is currently working on major films like Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey , The Amazing Spider-Man, and Bryan Singer’s modern day fairy-tale Jack the Giant Killer – all being released in 2012.
What is 3ality Digital? From their press release:
3ality DigitalTM enables the world to power live-action stereoscopic 3D (S3D) through the most advanced evolutionary technology available. 3ality Digital systems are currently deployed for the productions of Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey, and Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT KILLER. The technology was also employed for Sony Pictures’ THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, directed by Marc Webb.
3ality Digital’s camera platforms are earning a reputation as the “S3D Gold Standard©” for the emerging medium of stereoscopic visualization. 3ality Digital engineered some of the world’s first S3D cinematic and broadcast achievements, including U2 3D (the movie), and the first live S3D broadcasts from the NFL, BCS Championship, BSkyB, the Super Bowl, and NBC television.
3ality Digital is being used by leading filmmakers working with 3D technology, like Bryan Singer, Marc Webb, Peter Jackson, and several of the greats. Many movie makers avoid 3D because of its past association with being difficult to manage, but 3ality Digital has eliminated most of this concern, as their technology has made shooting in 3D as easy as shooting in 2D! Their technology is intelligent, automated and does ALL THE WORK for the filmmaker so they can concentrate on the creative. It raises the 3D bar because if you film using 3ality Digital’s S3D technology then your film is truly a 3D film and needs no conversion.
