Vanderbilt Commodore fans are legion. They are also loyal. They also have an opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ with some of their favorite athletic Commodore college heroes at the ‘2011 Dore Jam Fan Day’ which comes up on Sunday August 7.
The event will be held this year at the John Rich Practice Field and will be the 8th annual Dore Jam Day.
‘The event is free to all Commodore fans. New Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin, his staff and the Commodore players will be there to autograph a free poster. Food and drinks will be provided. The event also features free children’s activities.’
Season tickets will be available for purchase from the Vanderbilt Ticket Office. Fans will be able to park for free in the lots along Natchez Trace (between Vanderbilt Place and Blakemore Aven).
‘Inside the practice facility, fans will have a chance to get pictures and autographs with the football team along with members of other Commodore athletic squads’
For more information on Dore Jam or to order football season tickets, call the Vanderbilt Ticket Office at 615-322-GOLD.

One neat idea we saw on the VU Athletics web pages is to ‘vote for the name of the naval horn in the Vanderbilt Stadium’. You can vote on your choice of the final 3 suggestions and the winner will be announced after Dore Jam Day.
The three finalists names for the naval horn in the Vanderbilt Stadium are: The Admiral, The WestEnder, and Old Natchez.
‘The name of our stadium horn should be one that is easily used in communication, such as “when you hear (name), there are 30 minutes until kickoff’
Fans can vote online or if attending the Dore Jam Day, vote by paper ballot at the event.
