Dancehall veteran artiste, Christopher Palmer aka Mr. Lexx is hoping to retrieve his U.S visa following a recent setback this past April.
The artiste had his visa revoked by the United States embassy in Kingston three months ago, allegedly because he had parted ways with an unspecified record label. However, Mr. Lexx set the record straight in an interview with the Jamaica STAR. “My work permit was cancelled as a result of my breaking away from an entity, as they were the ones who had secured it for me,” Lexx intimated. Mr. Lexx was formerly signed to VP Records, a New York based Dancehall-Reggae label. Nevertheless, the artiste maintains that he’s in talks about a new record deal with an established record label. “Believe me, this is going to be big, but I’m not allowed to say certain developments until my lawyer has sorted the necessary procedures,” Lexx claimed.
Now the “Swag Diggy” singer is optimistic about getting back his U.S visa soon; currently engaging in discussions regarding acquiring a work permit & suggests that those discussions have been progressive thus far. “If all goes well, I should get back my work permit before the end of the year,” he believes. Despite not being allowed in the U.S, Mr. Lexx has still been able to entertain his international fan base; touring Europe in recent months. I went to Germany, Sweden, Russia, Holland and Denmark, and the response was excellent. I didn’t even have to sing some of my old songs,” Lexx told the STAR. The veteran deejay suggests that the fans in Europe respond well to his performances given that fans abroad respond to foreign types of music differently from their own.
Currently, Mr. Lexx is focusing on promoting his current projects such as his new collaboration with Reggae singer; Courtney John entitled “Hey Jamaica,” as well as his track with young Dancehall deejay, QQ dubbed “Wine Up.” He also is focusing on the production aspect of music; working with young protégés, CP Ink on his label, Jiggy House Productions & additionally will be featured in the upcoming Jamaican movie, “Out the Gate” which will soon be released in the United States.
