“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2”
4 out of 4 Movie Beans
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint
With all but two of the horcruxes found, Harry, Hermione and Ron must decide where to go next. Their list of allies seems to slowly be dwindling but they know they must press on. Harry is the only one able to track the horcruxes, as he seems to be oddly connected to them and their creator, he who must not be named. Their search will lead them deep into the vaults at Gringotts and back to the place where they all became more than friends, but a little family. The three and all who stand with them must be ready to fight for their lives if they even have a chance at defeating Voldemort and his malicious reign.
There is only one word that I can use to describe this film…EPIC. Every cast member has been with their characters for so long, the acting is completely seamless.Radcliffe certainly had to grow into his role with an acting coach or two under his belt, but it was all worth it! Also, because most of the plot exposition happened in the last film, this one was open to being almost completely action. I went to two different screenings of this Potter and you can really tell how invested people have become into the characters. There was crazy cheering and laughing throughout. Especially in the case of Neville Longbottom. He is truly the hero of this film. Although, by the title, one would think it was all about Harry, Neville really proves his salt in this flick. Originally our bumbling, comic relief, without Neville, Harry would most certainly not have succeeded in the end and his portrayer, Matthew Lewis , certainly brings an perfect performance along. The only problem I can see with this film, isn’t even with the film itself. If you are a true Potter fan, you will have the same feeling you had when you finished the last book. Where do we go from here? For Harry and friends, this is the end. You might feel a little directionless, like it can’t really be the end. My suggestion, go see it again in Ottawa theatres. This will remind you that Harry and company are never far from your heart.
Special Movie Bean Salute: Everyone involved in this epic franchise, from J.K. Rowling to the boom operators. Well done.
