If you’ve got an hour, you’re in the Sherwood area, and you need something for the kids to do, stop by Lake Cherrywod Park. Surrounded by trees, quiet Summit St on the south side of Kiehl Ave and Lake Cherrywood, Lake Cherrywood Park has a little to offer everyone, but come prepared.
Lake Cherrywood Park has a playground and swings for younger children. The older kids can shoot some hoops on the cracked and uneven basketball court. Parents can lounge in the gazebo while keeping an eye on everyone. The fishing pier offers the family “together time” and the lake is stocked by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Though Lake Cherrywood Park has much to offer in a small convenient package, it seems that many utilize the park for lunchtime as there is much refuse around the edges of the lake and on the pier. Most of the garbage is out of sight, so as long as parents keep an eye on the most curious kids, it shouldn’t be a problem. All things considered, Lake Cherrywood is a nice spot for a short family stop. For another family outing idea, check out Mid-America Science Museum.
