Karen Marzulli of Mister C’s Beach Bistro in Allenhurst, NJ is happy to announce they are teaming up with Barbara Longué of Cotes de Longué Selections to present The Beach & Beyond: Summer Sipping Pleasures Wine Tasting on Monday, August 15, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m. on the deck overlooking the beach.
Ms. Longué has selected seven wines from her wine portfolio for this tasting—choosing them for flavor, style, food pairing and great prices. The wines will provide a mini world tour as they hail from South Africa, Germany, Spain, France and California.
The first three wines are French with the first stop being Provence with wines from what Robert Parker declared “One of the best wine producers in Provence” Chateau Routas: Rouviere Rosé a full-flavored dry and vibrant blend of blend of 55% Cinsault, 23% Syrah, 14% Grenache, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and Chateau Routas Wild Boar Red a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that is named for the wild boars that roam the forests of the Routas estate. This red is ripe and opulent, delivering great value.
The third wine is Mayne Sansac Bordeaux Rouge. This incredibly delicious and affordable Bordeaux is a 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon blend with notes of grilled herb, plum skin and fresh cherry flavors.
The next two wines are both from South Africa: Beach House White, a Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon blend and, new to the Jersey Shore, Brampton Unoaked Chardonnay 2009, a crisp, full-flavored, unoaked style of Chardonnay with flavors of pear, peach, melon and ginge leading to a clean and dry finish
Then there are the two wines from the Turn Me series: Turn Me Riesling a 100% Riesling from the Nahe region of Germany and Turn Me Sweet a 100% Tempranillo from Spain’s La Mancha Region. Regarding the Riesling, veteran importer and distributor Manfred Bauer of Wein-Bauer, Inc. acknowledges “There’s no doubt that Rieslings are popular when paired with certain foods, but my goal in introducing a drier style Riesling to the U.S. market is to get away from the overly sweet style Riesling that is widely distributed.”
Turn Me Sweet is nicely balanced sweeter-styled Tempranillo with slight herbal characteristics with deeper and more intense fruit notes of berries, dark sweet cherries and a hint of vanilla. This wine has a mild and smooth finish with a fruity and juicy aftertaste. Ms. Longué says, “This is perfect for those preferring a sweeter wine. In summer these wines, when chilled are refreshingly delicious.”
The last wine is from California’s Pedroncelli winery based in the Dry Creek Valley: Pedroncelli Friends. Red 2009. Friends.Red is an old time-style blend of Merlot, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Franc delivering big bang for the buck and delicious too.
Ms. Marzulli is working with her chef to provide seven tapas dishes to pair with the seven wines. The cost for this tasting is $25 and reservations can be made by calling Mister C’s Beach Bistro at 732-531-3665.
Ms Marzulli also informs that the wines will be on hand and available for purchase to take home that evening and says “Do join us for what promises to be a delicious evening!”
Mister C’s is located at 1 Allen Avenue at the Ocean in Allenhurst, NJ 07711.
