The last place Hope Johnston was seen for sure was the Rainbow Gathering on July 1, 2011.
The family today released more of a timeline in hopes that this will help jog anyone’s memory who may have come in contact with Hope these past couple of weeks.
-Hope Johnston left Georgia on a Greyhound bus headed for Roseville, CA on June 30, 2011. Her baggage had been lost in transit and was left without her traveling gear.
-After arriving in California Hope both texted and phoned her family to update them of her whereabouts. This is the last contact the family has had with her.
-Hope and her friends departed for and arrived at the Gathering site on July 1, 2011.
-July 2, 2011 Hope said good-bye to her friends as they had prior work commitments. Hope was relying on meeting two of her friends from back home that were going to be at the Gathering, While at the time Hope was left at the Gathering she had not found her friends from home, her two friends she traveled to the Gathering with left her some of their camping gear so she was not left completely vulnerable. They parted ways on “the green path”.
-A woman who attended the Gathering contacted the family when hearing of Hope’s disappearance seeming to recall having possibly seen Hope on July 6, 2011 assisting a woman in distress who could not find her campsite.
-Coincidentally July 6, 2011 is the same day a South Lake Tahoe woman named Marie Hanson was reported missing after her family expected her back from the Gathering. Marie Hanson is still missing and is without her credit cards, money, and medication. All her things were left with the last two people to have seen her. She never returned.
It is unclear if the woman in distress that Hope may have been assisting was the same woman as Marie Hanson. Family members describe Hope as a, “free spirit, that is physically fit, enjoys yoga, and is a vegetarian.” If you or someone you know attended the Gathering and took pictures please go through them carefully in case you may have pictures of Hope Johnston or Marie Hanson. Hope’s family may be reached directly at [email protected]. For leads regarding the whereabouts of Marie Hanson please visit mariehansonmissing.com Missing person(s) reports have been filed by the families of both women. Do not hesitate to contact either family with even the tiniest bit of information you may have that may help bring their loved ones home safely and soon.
