MindStream Academy officials announced Thursday that Bree Boyce, the 22-year old who lost 110 pounds over a three-year period before claiming the Miss South Carolina title, will visit the campus to learn more about their program. Boyce will also explore how she and the Academy, which is located just off Hilton Head Island, can work together to help change the lives of overweight and obese teens.
Boyce won the Miss South Carolina title after she shed half her body weight and called winning the swimsuit competition “the icing on the cake” she didn’t eat.
Founder and CEO of MindStream, Ray Travaglione says of the visit, “There are many teens who see Bree as the example of success that they want to have in their own personal weight loss journeys. We are so excited to have an opportunity to learn more about her story.”
MindStream Academy is a health and wellness boarding school in Bluffton whose focus is on helping teens lose weight and get fit while nurturing their mind, body, and spirit.
Earlier this year Patrick House, the Season 10 winner of “The Biggest Loser,” joined the staff of the MindStream Academy, which is situated on a 43-acre equestrian estate in Bluffton that features hiking trails, horseback riding and a lake with fishing, boating and kayaking.
“Working closely with MindStream Academy’s multidisciplinary team, which consists of best in class dieticians, chefs, fitness trainers, medical advisory board, equine therapists and other counselors, I will have the opportunity (to) teach students the tools and skills needed to enable them to take control of their life in a fun and exciting way,” House said at the time.
Dr. David Katz, one of the leading international authorities on nutrition, weight management, and the prevention of chronic disease, also recently joined the MindStream team as their Senior Medical Advisor.
