Scotland — Eight-week-old Princess is lucky to be alive after being trapped in a running washing machine for almost an hour. The curious kitten jumped into the washing machine while her guardian Susan Gordon’s back was turned. Her unsuspecting guardian then closed the door, started the machine, and went upstairs to watch TV with her husband. Princess was not discovered until 50 minutes later when Gordon’s husband went downstairs to check the wash.
He discovered poor Princess clinging to a pair of jeans. Princess’ concerned guardians immediately rushed her to the vet. After a few days at the vets office, she went back home with no ill effects from her ordeal.
Obviously this story could have had a much more tragic ending. Please let it serve as a cautionary tale. This was a curious kitten, but even adult cats will jump into dryers, dish washers or washing machine. If you have a small pet, especially if it’s a kitten or puppy, please always check your washing machines, dish washers, and dryers before starting them.
