A mild and mostly cloudy day is on tap for Aurora. A thunderstorm complex is pushing southwest of the area through Missouri and Iowa. As a result, high and mid-level clouds continue to filter in from the west. This will act to restrict temperatures today, but most of the rain should remain to the south and west.
Clouds moving overhead should help to keep temperatures just above 80 degrees. The humidity today is much lower than Wednesday due to the passage of a weak cold front. High pressure is situated over the state of Michigan resulting in a weak easterly wind off the lake. This is also acting to dry the air. The dry air in place over northern Illinois should keep most showers that do pop up to the southwest of the area. A stray shower is possible though. Clearing skies are likely later this evening and into tonight as a warmer air mass builds in, pushing the rain producing system further away from the area.
Heading into Friday, temperatures are likely to push into the middle 80’s, with more sunshine. The air will still be dry and comfortable. The weekend will likely be a different story with hot and humid conditions expected. The National Weather Service states that the average high and low for July 7th are 83 and 62 degrees respectively.
