Actress Stefanie Scott definitely isn’t leading the typical 14-year-old girl’s life! In addition to currently starring in Disney’s newest original series A.N.T. Farm, Scott has played roles on various films and hit television shows such as Chuck and The New Adventures of Old Christine, for which she was nominated for a Young Artist Award. Most recently, the Florida native played a young Natalie Portman in “No Strings Attached”. As ‘young’ as she may still be, you only hear maturity when listening to Scott speak about the children she sponsors in Zimbabwe and Guatemala. As passionate as she is about her acting, with the many charitable organizations Scott is involved in, including DoSomething.org and Girls Up, one can see she is just as passionate about giving back to others and that is why Stefanie Scott is a talent that shines!
Tell me about your role in A.N.T. Farm.
Stefanie- I play Lexie Reed and she’s the star of all the school plays. She’s student body president. She pretty much owns the school. When someone else comes in, she doesn’t really like her stomping on her back.
What do you enjoy most about the show?
Stefanie-I enjoy everything. I just love coming to work everyday and rehearsals. We have a blast. And I love how every week whenever we get the new script, we get to see how our characters are up to. It’s kind of like we’re living through them in a way and it’s really cool!
Is there a favorite moment on set that stands out to you?
Stefanie-Every day we have new moments. We laugh so much everyday. We are growing up together as a cast so everyday we find new things. And when we look back on videos we see how much we’ve changed in just a couple months and it’s really cool. We have so much fun here. We play basketball on set. There’s like a ball pit in the production office upstairs and we have a blast!
You were nominated for a Young Artist Award for your guest role on The New Adventures of Old Christine. How is playing comedy for you?
Stefanie-I love comedy. There’s just something so great about making people laugh. And for me too whenever I laugh it just makes me feel so much better just watching a great comedy. So it’s really great to be a part of one. I love jokes and I love being the one to set them up or have the big lines. It’s a lot of fun. It’s really great we have so many fun moments on set just laughing.
You just finished filming a new Disney Channel Original movie, “Frenemies”, tell us a little bit about it.
Stefanie- “Frenemies” is about you think you have a best friend and slowly you realize they might be something else. It’s a really great story and I think it’s really relatable to so many people and teenagers. We had a great time. We filmed that in Toronto, Canada and we were there for a month. It was really great. Every set I go on I learn more things and I meet new people. It was really fun!
What’s your dream role Stefanie? What would you like to play later down the road in your career?
Stefanie-I want to be in a musical. I love music and just to be able to mash the music and the acting together it would be just incredible.
Who would you love to work with in the future?
Stefanie- There’s so many people. Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock and definitely Jim Carrey. I think all their career paths, all the films that they have done are really great. They are really inspiring. I think they’re really incredible. I’m actually really excited that I got to work with Natalie Portman because she was on that list too of people I wanted to work with. Because she took time off her career to go to college, so I think she’s really great. I was really happy to work with her in “No Strings Attached”.
Can you talk about the girl you sponsor through World Vision? It was really great to read about that! What made you want to do this at your age?
Stefanie- I sponsor a little girl, who’s four-years old in Zimbabwe. I just think it’s so great to be able to sponsor somebody and to know just by giving a little bit of money every month, it makes their life so much better. And I know it’s so tough for them. Just even with food and shoes, they don’t have them. It’s really hard. I mean the simple things we have here every single day they can’t even dream of it. Just to be able to do that is so great. Last week my father and I sponsored two more children in Guatemala. It’s a really great feeling to not only do something for somebody else, it also helps you as a person I think.
I agree. That’s so wonderful that you’re so young and you have that mindset.
Stefanie- Yes, I think it’s so important to. I mean I know it sounds cliché but to give back is important. Sometimes we’re given so much we need to do something for other people. I think that’s really important.
What do you like to do when you’re not working? Hobbies?
Stefanie- When I’m not working I love going to the beach. I am from Florida so I definitely love the beach life. I love horse-back riding. Just to go out to a barn, it’s fun. It’s kind of like a get-away from the city. And also I love animals.
