Wednesday, CBS officially announced The Amazing Race 19 cast. Two names that might ring a bell for some Scottsdale fans are Andy Finch and Tommy Czeschin. These two friends are former Olympians, and The Amazing Race viewers are anxious to see how they do this season on the show. Need a bit of a refresher on Andy and Tommy? Here you go!
Andy Finch is 30-years-old and lives in Truckee, CA. Andy participated in the Torino 2006 Winter Olympics in the Men’s Halfpipe. finishing in 12th place during the competition. Andy is still an active snowboarder, and he has a wife named Amber. The pair even welcomed a puppy named Indy into the family this month. Andy is obviously one determined, active guy, as he notes on his website that he was camping with Amber and Indy, and Amber has a hip fractured in three places. Even with a fractured hip, the pair were camping, kayaking and riding in the Jeep, with Andy carrying her as needed from place to place.
Andy may look like a wild snowboarder, but he has a very deep faith. On his website, he shares the story of almost losing his father, and writes about how his strong religious faith pulled him and his family through. His father developed mental health issues, and it nearly cost him his life. Shortly after his father’s incident, his mother battled cancer. Andy’s story is one that shows the determination he has in life, and there is no doubt he will bring that to The Amazing Race as well.
Tommy Czeschin is 32-years-old and lives in Crowley Lake, CA. Tommy participated in the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Czeschin was also a halfpipe competitor, and he finished in 6th place overall. Nicknamed “The Machine,” Czeschin joined the US Snowboard Team when he was 17-years-old and went on to win numerous titles in addition to his Olympic spot. Tommy retired from professional snowboarding in September, 2009. He shared, “I have a bunch of businesses that I’m running, I have a family with two kids, a snowboard company called Humanity that’s very busy. I also have a wakesurf company called Crowley Wake.” Czeschin has a son Owen, who is four and a daughter Raegan, who is two.

They think their laid-back, fun-loving personalities will serve them well during The Amazing Race. They also share that they have a solid work ethic and drive that led them to the Olympics and will lead them well in TAR 19 as well. These two are likely to be underestimated by the other teams, especially if their Olympic past isn’t immediately known.
