The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board will be losing a familar face. Kaye McGarry has decided to forgo running for a thrid term as a member of the school board. McGarry has said, ‘I’m going to be an advocate for education and I always feel like when one door closes, another one opens. I will look forward to some ways where I can be a stronger voice for the majority, what I consider the majority, of citizens of Mecklenburg county on the education issues.’
With McGarry out of the race, ther are 17 people looking to take her place. Officals say this is the largest number of candidates for an at large school board race in the history of Mecklenburg county. For more on the story, please read the article here.
Education is extremely important. It is good that someone like McGarry is willing to do what it takes to advance education. In today’s society, you need an education to make it. Education overall makes life better for the living. With the large populous that Charlotte Mecklenburg has, it is even more important that education be handled appropriately. With so many young people dependant on an education, this should be taken seriously.
With McGarry focusing on other areas of promoting education, the 17 candidates running for the school board spot have their work cut out for them. There is much information out there to be looked over. Be informed and make a wise descision.
