According to an article titled “Mark Levin: Chris Christie‘s a ’Big Slob’ Whose ‘Ego Is Completely Out of Control’” on Glenn Beck’s news/commentary website, The Blaze: “Talk radio host Mark Levin is infuriated with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. On Monday, Levin took to his radio show to hammer Christie over his handling of Hurricane Irene. The radio commentator took particular issue with the tone the governor used when addressing New Jersey residents last week.”
Levin is from the Philadelphia area, a graduate of Temple Law School, Temple University and Cheltenham High School. He is the nation’s second-most popular Jewish radio talk show host (after Michael Savage).
Levin took particular exception to the following (overbearing) comment by Governor Christie at late last Friday afternoon: “You’re done. It’s 4:30 PM. You’ve maximized your tan. Get off the beach. Get in your cars and get out of those areas.”
In response to that comment, Levin said: “This is a governor — he’s an elected official. He’s talking to his citizens this way. People aren’t hanging around on the beach to get a tan when it’s overcast, windy and raining. And ‘get out of your beach house.’ In other words, drop everything you own. Drop everything you have because the governor says so. And if you don’t do it, you get maligned by the governor. Now this is a man whose ego is completely out of control.”
Additionally, alluding to what he was suggesting was overreach by the supposedly-limited-government-conservative Governor Christie, Levin said, “The governor’s job is to provide people with information and if he thinks they should leave based on the best information he has. He should strongly encourage it. He shouldn’t belittle them. He shouldn’t scream at them. He shouldn’t call them names. Just say it like a statesman, you big slob.”
Commenters to The Blaze were mixed in their reaction to Levin’s criticism of Governor Christie.
“Solzhenitsin” wrote: “Mark is right. It‘s not the governor’s job to do any more than advise people to leave potentially dangerous situations and then keep service people out of harm’s way, period.”
“Mil-Dot” wrote: “I agree with Mark Levin. There has been so much smoke blown up [Governor Christie’s rear end] that he thinks he is a god or something. It really does not take that much brain oil to stick to a budget and say ‘no’ to out of control spending. It really does not take a genius to do that. And people can make their own life or death decisions without the govt ordering them to leave this place or leave that place. But the he!! out of our lives you NJ goon!”
According to “toto”: “I like Christie too, but he was out line. Had I lived in a vulnerable place, I am a grownup and would make my own decision based on the available information. He was condescending and rude.”
In contrast, “MONICNE” appreciated Governor Christie’s efforts, writing: “Levin and his station would be the first to attack the NJ Governor when the bodies began to wash ashore. Heaven forbid!”
