(Jupiter, FL) The Bradenton Marauders defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals 6-3 Tuesday night to clinch the Florida State League South Division second half title for the second consecutive season. The Marauders will host the Division Series opening game against the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday September 6 at McKechnie Field beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Trailing 2-0 heading into the third inning, the Marauders evened the game on Evan Chambers double bringing home Bengie Gonzalez and Adalberto Santos.
Bradenton took a 4-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Palm Beach pulled to within one run on Niko Vasquez RBI single in the sixth. Adalberto Santos hit a two-run homer in the eighth to put the game away for the Marauders.
Jason Erickson picked up the win in relief. Ryan Beckman earned his ninth save for Bradenton. Eric Fornutaro took his 13thloss of the season for Palm Beach.
The Marauders wrap up their two game set in Palm Beach against the Cardinals Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Bradenton won the second half division race on the second to last day in 2010 clinching against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The Marauders won game one of the Division Series at McKechnie Field before losing in three games to the Tampa Bay Rays High A affiliate Charlotte.
