Phoenix, AZ – The details surrounding two tragic deaths on Monday night are unbelievable.
According to Phoenix New Times, George Guzman, 69, ran over his own German shepherd and a neighbor’s Chihuahua while driving home.
Running over two dogs is tragic in and of itselt – the horror is in the details.
According to the report, Guzman was approximately 200 feet from his home when he hit the dogs.
Though he claims that he was not drinking, he was driving without lights and swerving in the road.
The impact from his Pontiac Firebird killed the small Chihuahua instantly – but the German shepherd, reportedly Guzman’s own dog, was dragged hundreds of feet under the car.
When Guzman got out of his vehicle, the severely injured dog was still trapped beneath.
Guzman apparently had no idea that he had been dragging his own dog – but even when he found out from the traumatized neighbor kids who had witnessed the mind-numbing scene, he didn’t care.
He backed his vehicle up to free the shepherd’s body and then sat inside of his car and watched the dog die.
Adding to the horror is an outrageous claim that Guzman made to responding officers – claiming that he not only doesn’t care about dogs, but that he’s probably hit about 1000 of them.
If his outrageous statement is true – it can safely be assumed that he has intentionally made it his mission to kill dogs whenever he sees them on the road – purposefully swerving to kill them.
Apparently the only thing that Guzman did care about when he was booked into jail was his wallet – not the pain and suffering that he had just inflicted on two innocent lives.
Sadly, it is quite likely that this man’s own dog was running out to greet his owner at the time that he was struck.
One can only hope that this souless man will not enjoy his time behind bars in no nonsense Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s town.
Guzman faces two counts of animal cruelty, two counts of failure to provide medical treatment to an animal, two counts of infliction of serious injury to an animal, two counts of animal cruelty, one count of killing an animal without owner’s consent, and two counts of criminal damage.
Rest in Peace to the two dogs whose lives were cut short by this heartless man.
