With this weekend’s release of the film Cowboys and Aliens, the Old West cowboy style will be shown on screens across the country.
The great thing about the cowboy/western style is it can still be found today with modernized pieces and accessories around San Jose.
Cowboy boots and chaps aren’t for everyone, but finding the right pieces to wear aren’t difficult to find to try out the cowboy/western look. Woven tops are a great piece to start with, whether they’re button shirts, flowy tanks or even blouses with soft ruffles around the collar.
The tops go great with jeans or shorts, but if shoppers want to be more adventurous, leather-like bottoms are out there to try. Forever 21 sells a brown leather-like skirt for under $16, as well as a selection of woven tops selling between $15 to $20.
Whether shoppers want to add more to their look or just want to slowly try out the western look, accessories are great to try to show off the western style.
Braided belts around a top, jeans or dress and leather/faux leather satchels are great reminders of ropes and saddles of the Old West. Silver bracelets, rings or necklaces can bring out the rustic look of western flair as well.
When mentioning cowboy style, the conversation can’t be complete without bringing up the cowboy hat. People may not wear it every day, but when worn with a western-style outfit, or protecting the face from the sun, the cowboy hat is still stylish and useful.
Target sells a variety of satchels between $25 to $40, and the bag looks great when worn around the torso. Wet Seal has a great selection of braided belts for $6 to $11, along with silver fashion jewelry starting at $4 and a cowboy hat for under $15.
Whether shoppers try one piece or all of them, the western look is easy to find, brings old style to a modern era and can be found for reasonable prices.
