Located on Charles Street, Maisy’s warmth, hospitality and really good food draws both locals and visitors with their seasonal and locally sourced offerings for lunch, dinner or late night rendezvous. Maisy’s owner Matt Helme recently added the very talented and much lauded Cyrus Keefer as the executive chef. The Harrisburg bred Chef Keefer attended the Philadelphia Restaurant School, worked the finer restaurants at the Delaware shore – Dish, Eden, Nage, Redfin and Espuma. At Brasserie 10 Chef Keefer received an amazing 3.5 out of 4 stars for his food from The Sun Papers food critic, Elizabeth Large. He recently walked away with “People’s Choice” award from the 2011 Crab Bash competition for his Blue Crab and White Corn Raviolini.
Each week, Chef Keefer posts a new menu on the Maisy’s website (www.maisysbaltimore) based on the current bounty of the farm and sea to pair with their seasonal menu. Chef’s keen sense of flavors, textures and culinary skill makes each dish whether as simple as his spaghetti and meatball sammy to his fork tender poached octopus a taste revelation for each guest. The restaurant is named after Matt Helme’s daughter Maisy and not to show any slight to his son Maddox, there is the Ox Lounge – a second level space with flat screens for game day, synced up for business presentations or that special family video for the anniversary, birthday party or wedding shower.
Did I like Maisy’s? So much so I’m helping them get the word out – the old barter system, public relation services for Chef Keefer’s amazing food. His food reminds me of the food that I ate at Gjelina in Venice, California which was my fave meal for 2010.
