Madonna Ciccone, international pop superstar, who is known the world over simply as Madonna has been widely regarded as the quintessential Queen of Reinvention, she is undoubtedly a fashion icon and her influence has spanned three decades. No one can deny that the 80s did not completely belong to the material girl with her lace corsetted undergarmets worn on the outside, ripped leggings, accessory-laden limbs, peroxide-dyed hair, and that strong red lip. She has always had relationships with major designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Gianni and Donatella Versace, and Tom Ford; just to name a few. However, she along with her only daughter Lourdes (whom Madonna affectionately calls Lola) have taken the design helm with their own label; Material Girl.
The Material Girl collection is aimed at the junior demographic, those who are too young to remember the song Madonna made famous in 1985. Lourdes chose, as the new fresh face of the line, Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne. When asked how she felt about the new business relationship, Kelly told the LA Times,
“I love being part of a brand for girls and having the opportunity to work with Lola who has an amazing fashion instinct. Added to that is the fact that Madonna has been a big influence on my style over the years.”
