Honor of the Pure is one of several White cards that were reprinted in Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: the Gathering 2012 Core Set M12.
Honor of the Pure – 1W
White creatures you control get +1/+1.
Together the soldiers were like a golden blade, cutting down their enemies and scarring the darkness.
Honor of the Pure was originally printed in M10 and received a special alternate art foil “buy a box” promo card. Check out the full high resolution artwork of Honor of the Pure here.
M12’s Honor of the Pure is an upgrade from Alpha and Beta’s Crusade, which gave all white creatures (including your opponent’s) +1/+1. When in the mirror match, playing a Crusade could often help your opponent more than yourself, and many players often wished they drew another creature over Crusade. With Honor of the Pure though, you won’t have the same problem. Your Grand Abolisher and Gideon’s Lawkeeper will always be bigger than your opponent’s – allowing you to win the damage race.
Not only is Honor of the Pure stronger than Crusade, it is also easier to cast because there is only one white mana in it’s casting cost compared to Crusade’s two white. This allows players to utilize a second or third color in their deck and run multicolored creatures with greater efficiency.
Honor of the Pure can be particularly nasty for an opponent when used in combination with Timely Reinforcements and other Magic: the Gathering cards that produce white token creatures such as Elspeth Tirel.
How will you abuse M12’s Honor of the Pure?
