Chris Robinson Brotherhood Show – The New Parish – April 20, 2011
Every Friday Oakland Jam Band Examiner gives readers a free “live and legal” music download suggestion, pulled from a variety of shows in the Bay Area.
This week’s live and legal music download is Chris Robinson Brotherhood at The New Parish in Oakland on April 20, 2011. Chris Robinson Brotherhood may seem foreign, but the lead singer of The Black Crowes probably rings a few bells. The guitarist and singer is perhaps most known for fronting The Black Crowes for 20 years. Robinson has had other successful projects however, including New Earth Mud and a project with his brother Rich.
Chris Robinson Brotherhood is just one more incarnation of Richardson’s musical explorations. The band formed in 2010 and began touring in March 2011. Joining Robinson are Adam MacDougall (Black Crowes member) playing keyboards, George Sluppick on drums, Mark “Muddy” Dutton on bass, and Neal Casal on guitar.
The 4.20 show lasted over three hours and featured several new songs as well as music from other projects. A number of covers were also handled well by the group such as Bob Dylan’s “Tough Mama” and “Viola Lee Blues” by the Grateful Dead. The live recording also features some entertaining talk from Robinson; one highlight being his tip of the hat to 4.20 proclaiming, “it’s all medicine baby!”
Check out bt.etree.org to download a free and legal copy of the show. The music is free to swap, but illegal to sale. There are a few different options for the Chris Robinson Brotherhood show, including a version recorded from the floor (recording from the balcony is the norm), giving you variations in crowd noise.
Remember to seed and share a like. Enjoy!
