A three-year-old lion with an auto-immune disease with Multiple Sclerosis symptoms, died in Brazil on Wednesday, crushing the hopes of thousands of Internet followers who tried to help the lion.
“Ariel is in heaven now…. Let’s pray for his soul… He was a wonderful and docile lion which loved and was loved….
R.I.P – Ariel Lion… :~~ :( Everyone who Helped us!! Thank you so much…” said the heart-broken web designer Racquel Borges, who led the Internet campaign (on www.helpthelion.com).
The money that was going to Ariel the paralyzed lion will be used to take care of 15 tigers, a lion and a lioness (mother of Ariel) that are tutored by the Emanuel Institute, that needed the money to help the lion.
The crippled lion fought to walk again and more than 62,500 people Liked the page and donated to the cause. The institute needed $11,500 for treatment of an illness where the lion’s white blood cells attacked healthy cells due to a degenerative disease affecting the brain stem involved in motor functions.
The 310-pound began limping and then his legs just stopped working. He was diagnosed with a disease similar to Multiple Sclerosis.
