The Explorium of Lexington, in the very heart of the Horse Capital of the World, offers fun, adventure and learning for all. It not only serves the community, but also entertains thousands of visitors every year. Formerly known as the Lexington Children’s Museum, Explorium is recognized as one of the leading museums of its kind in the United States.
There are scores of fascinating displays for children and adults alike. With interactive exhibits in nine different discovery zones, imaginations are inspired and curiosity comes alive for kids of all ages .
Museums are the fastest growing type of recreation and this one in Victorian Square is definitely unique among museums because of the large number of interactive exhibits found.
Educational programs are entertainingly presented to visitors who engage in a multitude of hands-on experiences. Over one million people have visited since 1990.
A relatively recent addition is The Open Art Studio. funded by a grant from the Little Foundation in 2005. It is an integral part of the Explorium and is a place of artistic creativity for every member of the family.

The goal is helping at-risk children in Central Kentucky reach their dreams and allow them to grow in a creative, productive and fun environment.
