Legendary runner Jim Ryun made a name for himself back in 1963 when he became the first high school student to break four minutes in the mile.
During his career he went to the Olympics three times, won an Olympic silver medal, set numerous world records and was recently named the ESPN Best High School Athlete Ever. He also spent 10 years as a Congressman for the 2nd Congressional District of Kansas.
Colorado runners have the unique opportunity to learn from one of the very best at the Jim Ryun Running Camp hosted by the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain.
Ryun will conduct a workshop focused on developing the complete runner on Saturday, August 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Titled “Realizing Your Dreams,” the camp will cover goal setting, stretching, strength training and running efficiency.
The cost of the camp is $100 for Riverfront Club members and $125 for everyone else. The Riverfront Club will donate 50% of proceeds from the event to Walking Mountains, a Vail Valley environmental sciences center.
The Riverfront Club is devoted to offering unique experiences for it’s members and the public. Last May they hosted a weekend ChiRunning clinic at the resort.
To register for the Jim Ryun Running Camp contact the Riverfront Club at (970)790-2051. A special room rate is also available for people attending the camp.
